The 100 finalists were categorized into five size categories, including extra-small, small, medium, large, and extra-large companies, with Preferred Corporate Housing being recognized in the small-sized company category (under 50 employees). The final rankings and celebration of all winning companies will take place during a cruise-themed awards luncheon at the Marriott Marquis on October 26, 2023.

The survey covered various aspects of the workplace experience, including goals and leadership, communication and support, advancement opportunities and skill development, recognition and compensation, tolerance and flexibility, and embracing innovation and ideas. The scores, based on employee responses, were used to determine the finalists for the Best Places to Work awards.
The Houston Business Journal will feature the Best Places to Work Lists and a special section in its October 27 weekly edition, available to HBJ's print and digital subscribers.
